•     How long will my lashes last

Everyone is different. With proper care and products they should last about 3-4 weeks before a touch-up is needed.

  •     Can I wear mascara with them?

Mascara is not needed but can be applied when in need of a touch up, but we do not recommend this. Most mascara is petroleum-based and will break down the bond, shortening the life span of your lashes. The only mascara that is recommended is “BLACK DIAMOND” This mascara is specificity formulated for lashes extensions and is suitable for even the bottom lashes.

  •     What time of glue is used?

Our certified technicians only use a medical grade adhesive to apply lash extensions. Derma-bond technology which is used by physicians to bond skin together is the basis of the structure of our adhesive. It’s specially formulated to be used on sensitive areas of the skin, such as the eye. Lashes by Ricky Vox eyelash adhesive is formaldehyde free! Our medical grade adhesive contains Ethyl- 2-Cyanoacrylate (which makes the solution fast bonding), Polymethyl Methacrylate (extra hold) and Carbon Black (for that dark mascara-like color and look).

  •     Can I choose my own length and thickness?

When consulting with your lash technician you will explain the level of dramatics and flare desired. In saying that, application will only allow what your natural lashes can hold and withstand. Ricky Vox lash technicians are strictly taught NOT to exceed double the length and thickness of natural lash. Adding more than that will add stress and can cause the natural extension to fall more quickly. If you are attending a special event or are looking for a more dramatic statement, extending 75% thicker and longer is possible, but we find that they don’t last more than a week or two.

  •     What should I do prior to my appointment?

Try to arrive with clean eyes and face, or without any makeup, or too much moisturizer around eyes. Also if its your first time and if you might be sensitive to service notify when booking appointment. Do not curl lashes day of. If this is not possible, don’t worry; we have all we need in lounge to get you prepped and ready!

  •     Can I tint my lashes if my lashes are light in color?

No. This puts a layer between the natural and false lash which will prevent full adhesion. The darkness of the extensions will take care of the lighter color that mascara usually covers.

  •      Will they ruin or make my lashes fall out?

The application of lash extensions will not cause hair loss, nor will it cause eyelashes to fall out. However, if you pull them out, well then… you’ve pulled them out! Remember that your natural lashes have their own life cycle of falling and growing just like the rest of the hair on your body. It’s just hard to notice small lashes falling out, but when attached to a thicker longer lash it’s hard not to notice! And of course, once the extensions are removed your own eyes may appear smaller, your natural lashes shorter and sparser, because you’ve grown accustomed to a full set of longer thicker lashes! Some people use extensions for special occasions, while others are lifers - use at your own discretion.

  •      What if I'm allergic?

We at Lashes by Ricky Vox will always ask if you are allergic to anything or have sensitive eyes. If so we will be sure to perform a patch test 24 hours before service.

  •      Can I shower or swim with my lashes on?

For the first 24 hours to receive better results, avoid getting wet, steam rooms, massages and facials after lash application. If you are a swimmer, goggles are 100% necessary. The first 48 hours is the cure time for the adhesive to take hold.

  •      Can I wear eye makeup?

Avoid anything oil base, wax or cream.

  •      What if I wear contacts?

    That's OK!

  •      Can I get bottom lash extensions?

That is a service we currently don’t offer but we’re looking into it.

  •      What colors are available?

Most clients prefer black but we do offer an array of colors, including red, blue, dark purple, green, and even yellow!

  •      Getting the longest durability.

DO’s : Use cotton Q-tips with oil- free makeup remover (we enjoy ours best) to keep your eyes clean and to remove makeup and dirty splotches. Use primer after shower to straighten and shift lashes back into place then let dry in position. Use a headband when working out or working up a heavy sweat. Longer lashes catch and hold more water, drawing the sweat into your eyes. We don’t want people surrounding you thinking that you’re crying over a tough gym session! Use “StrongLash” because this product is specially formulated for lash extension wearers. This product is similar to LATISSE but will not break down the adhesive. The longer, thicker, and stronger your natural lashes are, the better your extensions will look and last! Healthy lashes are our Number 1 priority! DON'TS: No curling your lashes Avoid facing the water. They are waterproof but not jet-spray-in-your-face proof! Don’t use any creams, wipes, make-up remover, makeup, or just any product in general that has an oil base. Water based products are easy to find nowadays. Don’t Pull or tug at your lashes and avoid excessive rubbing of the eyes Don’t sleep on your face; we know, it’s not on purpose

To insure all clients a relaxing experience, we request that you please leave your children at home, thank you!

Lashes by Ricky Vox has a 48 hour cancellation, rescheduling, late policy. If you miss your appointment, cancel, change or are more then 15 minutes late with less than a 48 hour notice, you will be charged $50 to your credit card. This policy is in place out of respect for our technicians and our clients. Canceling or rescheduling with less than 48 hours notice is difficult spaces to fill. By giving last minute notice or no notice at all, you prevent someone else from being able to schedule into that time slot. Showing up more then 15 mins late prevents your technicians ability to provide a full service to yourself and/or creates a domino effect and runs behind on all clients to follow. By giving a deposit, you acknowledge that you have read and understand the Cancellation Policy for Lashes by Ricky Vox as described above.

Here at RickyVox, we want to make sure you have all of the information you need on lash care and treatment. If you have any other questions prior to your appointment contact us at: 1-571-612-9190

Questions have been raised in the media regarding eyelash extensions and the effects they may have on the natural lashes. Unfortunately, many of these reports have not included complete facts or in-depth information.

Proper application is key, eyelash extensions should not cause damage to the natural lashes. Situations where damage has been, or can be caused to the natural lashes typically involve unqualified individuals applying the eyelash extensions. Ricky Vox only provides eyelash extension services by properly trained, licensed and certified specialist. The application process requires correct hand positioning, isolation of a single natural lash, individually selecting the eyelash extension and carefully applying it to the base of the natural lash using a strong bonding, high-quality adhesive.  Only with extensive training and supervision can a trainee learn how to perform this type of service.  A highly trained, licensed and certified Ricky Vox specialist is taught to work with each client’s specific lash type to help them achieve the healthiest and most beautiful look possible.

When requesting clusters or individual eyelash extensions that are more than twice the length and thickness of your natural lash, please understand that you should wear them for special events only.  They are too heavy to be safe for long-term wear. We have seen clients who have lost or damaged eyelashes from wearing flair, cluster lashes, or individual extensions that were too heavy.  Talk to your eyelash extension specialist about the look you want to achieve and any concerns you may have.

If it seems too good to be true, it often is! It is required in DC, Maryland and Virginia to have a cosmetology or esthetician license to practice eyelash extensions. Inexpensive eyelash extension service providers tend to apply lashes dangerously, sometimes without the use of eye pads, and may use low-quality adhesive. Our licensed, certified eyelash extension specialists often see the work of a unqualified individual first-hand and must repair the damage that has been done to the client. Ladies, these are your eyes we are talking about! Please only seek properly licensed, certified eyelash extension professionals!
